Arts Asia Pacific

Arts Asia Pacific was founded in 2005 by Torben Brookman and Richelle Brookman to develop viable and sustainable touring circuits for first class international productions of a variety of genres throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Prior to establishing Arts Asia Pacific, Torben and Richelle jointly accumulated extensive experience in performing arts, music, dance and entertainment and have worked with some of the leading arts organisations and producers in Australia and Asia. These include, The Adelaide Festival Centre, The Adelaide Festival, Latin Dance Australia, The Sydney Festival, Company B Belvoir, The City of Sydney (New Years Eve Celebrations 2000) and Arts Projects Australia (WOMADelaide 1999, 2001, 3rd and 4th Australian Performing Arts Markets, Melbourne Moomba Festival 2000 and 2001.

More recently with The Really Useful Group on productions such as; ‘The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber’ a concert series held at The Great Hall of the People in Beijing and in Shanghai at The Shanghai Grand Theatre in 2001. As well as the International Tour of ‘Cats’, which from 2001 to 2004 toured from South Africa to Lebanon, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Shanghai, Taipei, Stockholm, Helsinki, Oslo, Gothenburg, Doha and Beijing before returning to Taipei for a second season.

Arts Asia Pacific alongside The Reall Useful Group went on to produce a Korean language production of ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ in Seoul and Australian and productions, ‘The Graduate’, ‘Grease the Mega Musical’ and ‘Shout!’.

Networks and knowledge of markets throughout Asia were consolidated throughout 2004 and 2005 when Torben and Richelle toured with the Asian Tour of ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ providing Company Management. This gave them the opportunity to live and work for three to four months in Shanghai, Seoul, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
